This GPS in car system is most recognisable for its large, clear 4.3 inch screen, making this very easy for drivers on the move. The Navman M400 comes loaded with features, including all the ones you would expect from a satellite navigation system, including audible direction and has support for alerting you to driving over the speed limit and the upcoming speed cameras. The Navman software boasts a feature which claims to fix onto the GPS signal 5 times as fast as a standard satellite navigation system. We certainly found it to be fast, however we're not sure it managed the 5 times faster claimed in our test.

There have been a number of reports that this unit is hard to understand, however these tend to be people replacing more expensive units that have been damaged or stolen - we had no issues with understanding the instructions, but as with any satellite navigation system, the Navman M400 doesn't quite sound like natural speech.

In our trial run, the system was a touch slow to enter details for our destination, however once set up, the unit performed very well, with very clear visual guidance through the map, and good accompanying voice commands. Priced at around £70 new, or £60 if you are happy to buy a 2nd hand or refurbished version, this is great value for money if you're looking for a budget satellite navigation system. There are not many competing products in a similar price range that offer the same features to users as the Navman M400 satellite navigation system, so it would make a good buy for somebody looking for a budget unit to guide them.
